Welcome to Judge (Ret.) Matthews Mathews

I'd like to extend a welcome to our newest CAAFlog contributor, former AFCCA Judge Christopher Matthews Mathews. LtCol Matthews Mathews officially departed AFCCA on 1 Apr 2007. Lionel Sawyer & Collins is as lucky to have him as we are, welcome aboard, sir!

Thanks, and it's great to be aboard!

Here's a fact many people may not know ... my family sold the extra "t" in our last name years ago, which is why it's spelled "Mathews" rather than the more common spelling. We made a pretty tidy profit -- there are some parts of the world, such as the Balkans, where vowels are rarely used and consonants are in great demand.

As it happened, unfortunately, we invested the proceeds in Enron stock, but the basic idea was sound.

I am delighted to join the No Man in welcoming Judge (Ret.) Mathews The Greatest (JRMTGst) as a CAAFlog commentator. All it cost us was one limited edition CAAFlog t-shirt as a signing bonus.

And our new contributor has a sarcastic streak like his brethren. Thank you sir, may I have another?

From a review of his opinions, I think it is apparent that Mathews sure knows how to analyze and write. They should have made him TJAG or at least a judge on the CCA for life.

Since we now have at least one former J school professor and one former appellate judge as regular commentators, we should get CLE credit for reading this blog. Note: except in Virginia, which would require submission of a written outline of at least two pages in length before CLE credit will be considered.

I second nelson's right eye. I'm applying for reserve drill credit for reading this thing, since I can't get my appellate government division to send me any cases!
