Cox Commission sneak peek
According to this report in Wednesday's Stars and Stripes, the Cox Commission will recommend a UCMJ amendment to criminalize animal cruelty. Kent Harris, Panel suggests adding animal cruelty to UCMJ, Stars & Stripes, June 24, 2009. (Obviously the article gets some things wrong, like appearing to confuse the Cox Commission with NIMJ. The article also muddles the distinction between the UCMJ and presidentially enumerated Article 134 offenses, meaning that its suggestion that the Cox Commission will recommend a UCMJ amendment as the vehicle for prohibiting animal cruelty may be inaccurate.)

Does participation in the Cox Commission entitle one to NIMJ membership?
Perhaps the commission should consider an offense for CAAF cruelty - e.g. for attempting to make anyone care about what it considers to be the true meaning of "on divers occasions" and "lesser included offenses."
Yup, if they can enact an express animal cruelty article, that will cure the ills of the military justice system and everyone can go home.
Adding to "abusing a public animal" now the offense of kicking the drug sniffing dog, vs its traditional application to Army muleskinners.
There is no difference beween The Cox commission and NIMJ. One begat the other, spawned in hell.
